A man whose body was found floating in the Swan River near Crown Casino in Perth has been identified and police say his death is not suspicious.

Emergency crews were called about 12.40pm on Wednesday after a member of the public made the grim discovery in Burswood.

The 42-year-old Butler man was found near the shoreline close to the water sports centre.

He had no obvious signs of injury.

Police pulled the man’s body from the water and are now preparing a report for the coroner.

“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious at this time pending the result of the post-mortem examination,” a police spokesman said.

Detectives spent some time combing the water and nearby river bank after the discovery of the body.

It is unclear how long the man had been in the water, but there are reports it had been days.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers.
